When selecting a life coach, look for someone you respect and trust. Feel free to "shop around" before hiring a life coach so that you can find someone you can relate to and comfortably work with. The International Coach Federation (ICF) suggests that you ask your potential life coach the following questions:
What kind of training and experience do you have?
Do you hold an ICF Credential, or are you enrolled in an
ICF Accredited Training Program?
Is there a particular area of coaching you specialize in
(i.e. financial coaching or relationship coaching)
What specialized skills or experience do you bring to
your coaching?
What is your specific process for coaching? (how
are sessions conducted, frequency, etc.)
What are some coaching success stories? (specific
examples of individuals who have done well and
examples of how you have added value
to their
experiences)
